Giuseppe Gandini’s “Maguzzano” Abbe in Shift at Lonato Event

Tonight at 4 p.m., the presentation of Giuseppe Gandini‘s work «Maguzzano: storia di una abbazia» will take place at the Lonato town hall. The event, sponsored by the Federazione associazioni gardesane cultura e ambiente, will feature speaker don Giovanni Spinelli from the Centro storico nazionale benedettino.

The two-volume set was produced based on a publishing project by Grafo edizioni of Brescia and the Associazione di studi storici «Carlo Brusa» of Desenzano del Garda. The author, through a twenty-year research primarily conducted in archives, has compiled a significant collection of documents, likely encompassing all currently available materials regarding the abbey located in the Lonati district.

Structure and contents of the work

The work is organized to be accessible even to non-specialist readers: an initial concise historical overview, followed by a thematic summary providing a multifaceted view of the abbey’s history.

The second volume is entirely dedicated to a comprehensive presentation of the documents. The work also includes a preface by the prefect of the Biblioteca Capitolare di Verona, monsignor Alberto Piazzi.
