Manerba’s Nativity Scene Opens Tonight at San Giovanni Church
Everything is ready in Manerba for the highly anticipated Nativity Scene event: this evening, following the traditional midnight mass, the church of San Giovanni, in Solarolo, will host the fourth edition of the now-famous Valtenesi Nativity Scene, an artisanal construction that has attracted an increasing number of visitors since its first display.
Preparing the Manerba Nativity Scene is a group of enthusiasts who have been working since September to reach the demanding inauguration this evening: it consists of about ten volunteers united under the name “Amici di San Bernardo”, a Montinelle-based association very active in initiatives of community building and socialization.
Origins and Development of the Nativity Scene
Four years ago, when the idea to build the nativity scene was conceived, the Amici did not expect that their creation would become one of the main Christmas attractions throughout the lower Garda area.
However, this success motivated them to improve, adding new features each year and continuously refining the delicate mechanism of the entire display.
Features and Opening
The new version of the Nativity Scene covers over 65 square meters and includes more than 300 moving figurines within a setting rich in details and special effects.
The official opening tonight will be accompanied by panettone and mulled wine: afterwards, the nativity scene will remain open during the holiday season until mid-January.
