Underwater Nativity Scene in Lake Garda Opens for Christmas Season
From Christmas to Epiphany, the bottom of the middle canal, opposite Ponte San Giovanni in Peschiera del Garda, will host the Lake Nativity Scene, conceived and created by the underwater circle. A nativity scene of great originality, perfectly visible from the surface, and therefore – as the organizers emphasize – “born in the water but for everyone.” On nine platforms positioned on the seabed, about twenty figures made of wrought iron, skillfully worked with oxy-acetylene flames, have been anchored. Stylized shapes representing the story of the Nativity.
The spectacle and technical difficulties
The show can be admired from the stands of the main bridge of the Comune di Peschiera, which also sponsored the initiative. The work of the diving team was particularly complex due to the strong water current, caused by the high level reached by Lake Garda in recent weeks.
This tradition of the nativity scene, which has been repeated for about fifteen years, could not be compromised, and thus the association, led by Renato Signorelli, did not give up on the effort. An event to be included in the Christmas itinerary of must-see attractions.
