Manerba del Garda Advances Planning for New Elderly Care Facility
After the brief Christmas holiday period, the administrative activities of the municipalities resumed at full pace. In Manerba del Garda, among various topics of upcoming interest, one that has long been a topic of local conversation returns: the construction of the new Casa Albergo. It is Mayor Isidoro Bertini himself who gives us an update on the situation, which involves his administration in the launch of this project.
Situation and Project Details
“Indeed, we are preparing a public tender for the construction of this elderly home. Essentially, this will be the first official step toward the start of the construction of this facility, which will see the municipality itself involved, although not as the direct protagonist, in the realization. Let me explain better. With this public tender, we want to find a company that will undertake, providing the broadest guarantees and with a proper agreement, the entire cost of the operation—namely, the construction first and the management later—of this complex that will be built on a plot of 8,500 square meters owned by the Municipality.”
This will be a facility with approximately 120 beds, in around sixty apartments, twenty of which will be contracted with the municipality. The entire operation has been designed to allow the municipality to recover all costs, or alternatively, to enter into a joint venture with the service management company.
Position and Purpose of the Casa Albergo
The location of this elderly care home is behind the current social center, in a magnificent position overlooking the entire Bay of Romantica. An ideal place to give these individuals, who have dedicated their entire lives to work and family, the opportunity to continue living comfortably, in the same town that saw them, in their best working years, true protagonists and often architects of the development that has allowed their municipality to grow and strengthen.
It will feature apartments suitable for couples, as if they were living in their own home, or even for “singles.” The important thing is that all residents of this “hotel” can enjoy a social life in company, sharing needs, problems, and expectations, and not be abandoned in care homes where loneliness often prevails.
Costs and Progress
The total cost of the project is expected to be around 8-10 billion lire. This amount, given the nature of the public tender, should hardly impact the municipal coffers. In the coming weeks, after the publication of the tender, more details can be known about the various aspects regulating the entire operation. For now, it suffices to know that the project of the Casa Albergo continues along its bureaucratic path, accelerating toward the final stages before the laying of the foundation stone.
