Marino Damonti Publishes ‘Grappa, a Tradition Not to Be Forgotten’
Grappa, what a passion. And certainly for Marino Damonti, a highly skilled restaurateur from Lonate, who took on the effort of alternating months at pots and stoves with penning this work.
He sifted through old books, uncovered traditions, anecdotes, and recipes. These have become a book: “Grappa, a tradition not to be forgotten,” which Marino Damonti of Trattoria La Rosa has printed in 3,000 copies.
His effort was presented during the fair on Friday morning in the Celesti hall at the town hall.
“I started from the idea that there is little culture surrounding grappa, a beverage that offers many pleasures and sensations in smelling and drinking it, just as many as the flavors and moods of the vineyards from which it is derived.
This book aims to raise awareness of it.” Presented with the lively pen of Vincenzo Buonassisi, it also offers a selection of recipes and a map of the 121 Italian distilleries producing grappa.
