Brescia Mayor Announces Expert on Limone-Riva Road Closure Impact

Not even considering the possibility of a two-year closure of the road between Limone and Riva, is the mayor Giovan Battista Martinelli.

Brescia has identified the expert: the name will be announced today.

“These days, I am flooded with a barrage of phone calls, day and night. Hoteliers are asking what they should do.” For operators, this is a time of hiring.

“With the road closed, there will be a contraction of tourism between 60% and 70%. And in the face of such possibilities, operators protect themselves: between Limone, Tremosine, Toscolano, and Maderno, there are between 2,000 and 3,000 employees in hotels.

But they won’t hire staff if the hotel operates at two-thirds, or less, of its potential.” Operators, understandably, since it concerns their money, are pressing for certainties.

However, it’s very unlikely that within a couple of weeks (February 15 is indicated as the deadline for hiring) there will be that final clarity that no one, today as today, is able to provide.

Calls to Martinelli are destined to continue.
