Agriculture Support Measures for Hailstorm Damage in Cavriana and Nearby Areas
In advance of the usual timelines — which are typically very long — the Ministry of Agriculture has approved a decree declaring the exceptional nature of the natural disasters caused by the hailstorm that struck agricultural companies in the municipalities of Cavriana, Monzambano, and Ponti sul Mincio on September 16th.
Application for the aid can be submitted to the Province by February 16th, provided that the damage suffered amounts to at least 35 percent of the gross saleable production of the company, excluding livestock farming.
The following interventions are planned: a five-year low-interest loan with a 40 percent debt forgiveness; partial exemption from social security contributions for one year; a capital contribution for the reconstruction of structures, vineyards, orchards, and stocks, or a ten-year subsidized loan.
Support Measures
An intervention is also planned for cooperation, which in the area could concern the Consorzio Sociale Colli Morenici di Ponti, due to the decrease in contributions.
Damages and Requests for Assistance
Coldiretti recalls that the storm of September 16th, with hail and tornado, caused damages to agriculture exceeding 20 billion euros, severely impacting approximately 250 companies.
On October 2nd, the provincial president of Coldiretti Aldo Caleffi invited the undersecretary of Agriculture Roberto Borroni to act promptly to ensure swift disbursement of funds aimed at compensating for the damages.
