Castiglione Mayor Asks Opponents to Join Council Amid No-Confidence Vote

Mayor Arturo Sigurtà invites the leading figures responsible for the vote of no confidence against Beruffi to join the municipal council, taking charge of the ecology department. Catching everyone off guard, at a moment when an indication of the new assessor was expected from Castiglione Domani, Sigurtà summoned key figures for a meeting.

The mayor wants a prominent member of the majority group to join the council: “At a time when the fight against the landfill is reigniting, and since I do not want to change an assessor every year, I believe it is time for the main architects of the no-confidence vote against Baruffi to take responsibility for his replacement. I am addressing – says the mayor – Mattioli, Belluzzi, and Novazzi, who are certainly influential figures within the group. I invite one of them to accept responsibility for the decision made and to take on the role of assessor for ecology.”

This is so that all groups can assume responsibility for the administration during such a difficult period. The mayor made this statement after receiving the communication from Castiglione Domani (which stated the political no-confidence vote against Beruffi), and everyone thought that Castiglione itself would provide guidance on his successor tomorrow.

In this context, the hypothesis of Martinetti’s involvement diminishes. Regarding the actions of assessor Beruffi, the mayor chose to speak positively: “I am losing a valuable collaborator, who did not face accusations of administrative failure from his own group. I must acknowledge his undeniable merits: having launched, to 80%, the single-window service; being the architect of the remediation projects for the Cava del Pirata and the Busa; implementing a personnel organizational chart modification in Castiglione, which had not been done for decades; and starting the Technical Education and Training courses.

These are very positive contributions in my view. However, the mayor cannot focus solely on administrative achievements; he must also consider the political aspect. That’s why, after receiving the communication from Castiglione Domani announcing the vote of no confidence, I decided to accept his resignation.” The mayor concludes with a mythological warning: “Castiglione Domani, be careful not to act like Cronus, who devoured his children; so far, their attitude seems very similar.”
