Sr. Bruna Imelda Sabaini Returns to Brazil with New Energy for Leprosy Care
Everything is now ready for the return to Brazil. Even her spirit is charged with new energy. And it could not be otherwise for someone who has dedicated over 30 years daily to the most humble and disadvantaged in society.
Sr. Bruna Imelda Sabaini embodies all this: a noble and sincere soul devoted to others. Her life mission has led her to dedicate herself fully to those in severe abandonment and hardship.
Today, her area of operation is Brazil, in the distant Marituba. There, her leprosy patients and their families are on the path to recovery from this terrible disease that inexorably mutilates the body and forces those affected into isolation, and in some ways, entirely rejected by social life.
In a few days, the missionary of the Little Sisters of the Holy Family of Castelletto will return to Brazil after a period of rest among her people, in her hometown of Lazise. She has spent these precious days with her family, savoring every moment of her stay in Italy.
Gratitude and Humanitarian Aid
She found great closeness and reconnected with many people she left behind here years ago, before undertaking her missionary work. “I found a tremendous human warmth,” affirms the religious sister, “which gave me a big boost of vitality and reassures me every day in my actions for others. I needed a recharge, and here, I found it more alive than ever.”
The first to welcome her, besides her family, were friends from the San Martino in Calle association, who have been twinned with her and her leprosy patients in Marituba for several years. They were also the first to deliver to Sr. Bruna Imelda a gesture of significant generosity for the leprosy sufferers.
This gesture amounted to a few million euros, raised from activities promoted during the feast of the patron saint San Martino. The amount was increased thanks to the contributions of several other people. Most preferred to remain anonymous, because charity must be a noble and reserved act.
For Sr. Bruna Imelda, her return to Brazil will be rich both in emotional renewal from her people and in the generous participation of Lazise residents supporting their less fortunate brothers. “The direct channel now activated with the people of Lazise will surely serve as a vehicle to channel even more aid,” emphasizes Fiorella Azzali, president of the San Martino in Calle association, “to the leprosy patients and those living around the leprosy hospital, which, as is known, is located within a hospital setting managed by friends of Don Calabria.”
