Gardesana Road Updates: Embankment Removal, Site Work, and Parking Expansion
Work is underway along viale Roma, the internal artery of the eastern Gardesana road, which leads directly to the lake, specifically to the small port and the municipal campsite. The Aiola embankment, which was located close to the municipal campsite on the right, after the complex of former elementary schools, has been completely removed. The land has been entirely excavated, and the opportunity was taken to thoroughly clean the stormwater conduits, which had been clogged with soil and gravel. Thesepipes carry runoff water that comes from the Barun area and the parish youth center, in a zone called La Mata. Following significant urbanization works of the above land subdivisions, the removed soil has increased the volume of debris downstream, partially clogging the pipes that empty directly into the lake.
Interventions and Disruptions
In conjunction with these operations, the Municipal Administration is also working, with internal resources, to upgrade the electric line for public lighting, which has been inactive for more than a month. This situation has caused inconvenience for residents and tourists, especially due to the inaccessibility during the evening and night hours to the scenic pedestrian promenade leading to Villa Pergolana and thus to Cisano.
Finally, the removal of soil near the perimeter walls of the campsite will allow for the construction of a so-called ‘comb’ parking lot, starting from the Enel booth up to the entrance of the municipal campsite. Once completed, about thirty cars will be able to park there, expanding the total municipal parking area, especially for the summer period.
