Castiglione Sports Calendar 2001 Highlights School and Community Events

At a press conference at the town hall, Assessore Angelo Tagliani, together with the vice president of the Consulta Italo Bisi, unveiled the sports activity calendar for 2001.

“We wanted to prioritize the relationship between sports and the school world,” explained Tagliani, “with various initiatives throughout the year and the involvement of clubs within schools.”

Main Events and Periods of the Year

Among other appointments, there are Giocosport, student championships, and athletics competitions. Throughout 2001, a mix of established events and new initiatives will alternate, totaling around 50 events.

In March, qualifying rounds for the Coppa Italia di bocce and the “II Trofeo Camas” karate tournament will take place. In April, cycling and athletics competitions are scheduled, while in May, the “XXI Trofeo Monte Suello” shooting contest, a provincial judo tournament, and a youth football tournament organized by Castiglione Junior will be held.

In June, there will be more football, darts, and running events. July features the “VII Green Volley Tournament,” always at Parco Pastore. August will host a basketball challenge.

Autumn Events and End of Year

Come autumn, in September, the well-established “Staffetta delle due piazze” and the “Trofeo Città di Castiglione” athletics competition will take place. October will see the “XXI Passeggiata dei colli morenici” and the highlight of the year, the Festa dello Sport.

In November, Mondolandia will celebrate the closing of the Sportlandia events, while in December, at the San Pietro center, the event “Natale 2001: vivi con noi lo sport” will be held.

Future Projects and Ongoing Initiatives

Other events are still to be scheduled, while a cross-country race in the new Parco Desenzani is planned for September. The setup work is expected to begin in the coming months, with the creation of a perimeter circuit for running.
