Desenzano Clears Priority for Old Boat Slip Concessionaires in Allocation

Nothing can be done regarding the priority requirement for old boat slip concessionaires stipulated by the regulation of the Comune di Desenzano.

For the allocation of moorings, all citizens who submitted applications, obviously within the deadline and with the basic requirements met, will be considered equally. No privileges will be granted.

This is the substance of the response provided by Oreco, the Regional Control Body, to the Comune di Desenzano, which, as a reminder, had introduced this principle, defined by the Navigation Code as the “right of insistence” in the concession-based boat slip allocation regulation for the three-year period 2001-2003.

Yachters’ situation and application control

“But yachters can relax,” explains Giovanni Venieri, the councilor, “because by the end of the month, the ranking list should be ready. The review of applications will start immediately, I don’t want to make any bold predictions but I believe there are quite a few fraudulent applications: in any case, we will keep a close eye on them.”

The principle of “insistence,” which allows the granting authority to reserve a slip to those who had already used it the previous year if they are in a position of equal rights with a new applicant, had also been adopted by other Municipalities, and even by the Community of Alto Garda, which groups several municipalities.

Of course, the hopes of the older slip concessionaires to receive recognition for the next three-year period are diminishing. At this point, the control by the Urban Police regarding the authenticity of the received applications will be crucial.
