Lugana DOC Consorzio Showcases at Bit Amid Regional Wine Collaboration

Full representation of the Consorzio di tutela del Lugana doc will be present at Bit, hosting stands by the Camera di Commercio di Verona. This consortium is perhaps the only sector-specific organization with an interregional scope, as the production area straddles Lombardy and Veneto, promoting a single product—the straw-yellow white wine whose fame has now crossed international borders.

In the exhibition spaces, the wines hold great prominence, especially during the event at 12 noon today, which will feature tastings and presentations of typical products from the Veronese Garda area (cheeses, olive oil, and, of course, wines). There are four wine routes in the Veronese land connected to Garda, which intersect with the Lugana doc production zone and the route of the newly established Strada dei Vini bresciani del Garda.

Events and connections between territories

From Gardone to Sirmione, this route could naturally serve as a continuation between Brescian and Veronese wine routes, highlighting one of Italy’s most interesting areas for quality and quantity of white, chiaretti, red, and sparkling wine production. Furthermore, this newly established route will also be officially represented in the pavilions dedicated to enogastronomic tourism at Bit in Milan.

On the other hand, the Consorzio tutela Lugana doc will have a targeted presence, as emphasized by its president, lawyer Francesco Ghiraldi: «Our participation in Italy’s most important tourist event – he affirms – signifies a continuous focus on a deliberately niche market».

The Consorzio Tutela del Lugana doc counts 114 members who cultivate approximately 514 hectares in a zone characterized by soil features and climate peculiarities that remain unique in Italy. As a result, the production of three million bottles annually is immediately market-ready domestically (mostly), with promising prospects abroad.
