Marco Zaninelli to Present Lake Garda Tourism Data Amid Leadership Changes
After its debut at the Bit trade show in Milan, the new commissioner of the Tourist Promotion Company for the Veronese shore of Lake Garda, Marco Zaninelli, will make his home debut. On Thursday, February 22, at 6:00 PM, in the meeting room of the Adelaide Hotel in Garda, he will present to the press and operators the final data concerning the year 2000.
Confirmation and Replacement at the Head of Apt
It is recalled that the Regione has appointed commissioners for 11 of the 14 Apt (Tourist Promotion Agencies) in Veneto. Zaninelli, president of Assogarda camping, has thus unexpectedly replaced Enrico Merenda, whose reappointment had been supported by a broad coalition including hoteliers, public operators, travel agencies, and the campers themselves, who signed a unified document.
Results and Development of the Tourist Sector
Merenda had given a strong boost to promotional activities, achieving excellent results. Tourist arrivals increased from 5 million in 1995 to the current 9 million.
He fostered collaboration between public and private sectors, encouraging the requalification of structures and improvements in service quality. He also established connections with Monte Baldo and the inland hill areas, expanding the range of local products to offer to clients from across the Alps.
Cultural Projects and Future Plans
Most recently, a project linked to the Jubilee involved the production of 60 works by painters over three years, some of which were exhibited abroad.
In the future, the Apt agencies will come under the control of the Provinces.
