Centro Culturale del Garda Hosts Event on Giotto’s Christian Artwork
Activities and Meetings of the Centro Culturale del Garda
The first event of the year, this evening, for the Centro Culturale del Garda, founded in 1992 on the initiative of a group of friends from Desenzano del Garda, with the primary goal of promoting the social doctrine of the Church, expanding to include historical, political, literary, musical, and artistic proposals.
The Center is presided over by Carla Signori, with director Marcello Zaccara and secretary Adele Bazoli: about thirty active and enthusiastic members. Tonight’s meeting is organized in collaboration with the “A. Merici” school cooperative and will take place at 9 p.m. at the Palazzo del Turismo.
Details of Tonight’s Event
The theme is “The Christian Event According to Giotto”. Slides of the frescoes from the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua will be shown and commented on by the holder Roberto Filippetti.
The program will continue on Tuesday, March 20, with the first session of the fourth course for high school graduates at the “Celesti” auditorium. Upon request, participants will receive a certificate of attendance, which can be used for educational credits.
Programs and Initiatives of the Centro Culturale
The Centro Culturale del Garda has already organized meetings on the social doctrine of the Church and on Europe and Christianity. Additionally, it has presented some religious-themed books.
“Special attention has always been given to the school world,” reveals president Signori. “We promoted a public meeting on the new school reform, which was attended by numerous associations and educational institutions. Three courses for high school graduates were also organized from 1997 to 2000, with the patronage of the Department of Culture and Public Education of Desenzano.”
Recent Projects and Initiatives
Particularly successful was the “Garda Music” project, also supported by the Municipality: five concerts of ethnic-popular music held last summer at the castle, which are expected to be repeated.
