Lombardy Farms Open Doors with 200 Locations for Food & Wine Tours

Saturday and Sunday, nearly 200 farms and courtyards across Lombardy will open their doors, showcasing their products to visitors, who are expected to be numerous. The regional list also includes 17 companies located in our province: some are spread across Valtenesi, while others are wine producers from Lugana. It will be a sort of homage to country taste, and anyone with a bicycle or on foot can participate by following the twenty-eight itineraries designed by the Confederazione Italiana Agricoltori (CIA) in collaboration with Pirellone.

Participation and products on display

This initiative, now in its fourth year, has seen a steady increase in the number of participants: last year, 165 companies were involved; this year, almost 200. From Cremona’s salami to the exquisite Lugana wine; from Valcamonica cheeses to cereals and oil from Valtenesi: there’s something for everyone’s taste. It’s a unique opportunity for those who are not yet familiar with the processing methods of the myriad typical products, or the criteria followed in the farms.

Services and innovations of the edition

This is a successful formula that has been enhanced this year with the idea of offering visitors the possibility to stay overnight at agritourism farms. All itineraries and information are available by consulting the website www.turismoverdelombardia.org.

Event presentation

The event, titled «Per corti e cascine», was presented yesterday at the Rocca di Lonato, in the presence of the leaders of the CIA regionale, provincial councilors Ermes Buffoli (Tourism) and Giampaolo Mantelli (Agriculture), and operators involved in the event.

Routes and participating companies

In Brescia, three routes have been chosen by the organizers: Valtenesi, Lugana, and Valcamonica. The companies participating in Valtenesi include Arriga Alta, Lonato; Cantine Valtenesi e Lugana, Moniga; La Torre di Mocasina; L’Ulif di Polpenazze; La Basia, Fattoria Cà and Fausto Cavalli di Puegnago; Azienda Trevisani of Gavardo. In Lugana, there will be Seriati, Roveglia, Brunello, and Conti di Pozzolengo, as well as Cascina Stefanona in San Martino della Battaglia.

Companies open and access routes

In Valcamonica, Paros di Angolo Terme, La Sognata di Piancogno, and Le Margole di Cividate Camuno will open their doors. Visitors will be guided by the farmers and managers of these farms and courtyards themselves: a short route through fields, farm buildings, cellars, and productions.

Offered services and innovations

Beyond the new opportunity to sleep there, as always, there will also be the possibility to dine: reservations can be made directly with the chosen location. In his speech, the councilor Mantelli emphasized the need to strengthen these initiatives, which «enhance our agriculture, which in this phase needs to recover points on recent emergencies. This is also a direct valorization of Brescia’s products».

Announcement of upcoming initiatives

Colleague Buffoli announced the imminent launch of the provincial tourism plan, highlighting the importance of the regional law that allows farms located in marginalized areas to offer hospitality services to tourists.
