Torbole Sailing Club Expands with New Floating Docks and Moorings
A floating dock to be built in no time (by June), and another, already ready and completed, entrusted to its care. Circolo Vela Torbole is expanding its moorings at once (pictured).
This is thanks in part to a substantial provincial contribution recently allocated by the Provincial Council to support sports activities. Specifically, 260 million euros have been allocated to the sailing club for the purchase and installation of three enormous floating platforms.
In practice, these are cement parallelepipeds (weighing approximately 30 tons, measuring 12 meters long and 3 meters wide) that will float connected to each other and properly clad in wood, creating a new pier. They will be placed by a specialized company in the water mirror facing the nautical headquarters.
Construction and functions of the new port
In fact, since they will be anchored with a system of weights to the seabed starting from the outermost point of the Adige-Garda basin, in some way a sort of port will be created. That, after all, was the remaining feature missing at the club.
And this year, in September, it will host the prestigious Melges 24 European Championship without any issues. No problem, therefore, to accommodate the significant number of large vessels expected to arrive: at least one hundred.
Other moorings and arrangement works
The other new moorings available are located nearby. At the club, the Provincia has, in fact, officially granted the mooring on the lakeshore in front of the Hotel Paradiso for its sporting and social activities.
This is mainly to give vital space to one of Garda’s largest sports entities, but perhaps also to impose order on the chaos of unregulated or informal moorings so far. Naturally, in addition to enjoying the benefits, they will also take care of minor maintenance and cleaning.
Work on laying the new mooring buoys will begin as soon as possible.
