Music at School: Final of National Composition Contest in Padenghe
Could the title be ‘Music at School’? This is the theme of the event that Padenghe will host this weekend. We are indeed talking about the final of the National Composition Competition dedicated to primary schools: an initiative that involved 23 different institutions.
Targeted at music-oriented schools, the initiative features two separate judging categories: one for original compositions at the elementary level, and another for arrangements at the middle school level. The jury will convene at the West Garda Congress Center, which will host the entire event, to determine the rankings.
Music evenings and school performances
The highlight will be on Saturday, but before then, performances will take place on Thursday and Friday, during which the congress center will host the Second Festival of Middle Schools with a Music Focus of the Brescia province. On Thursday, performances will include the Perlasca School from Rezzato, Guerini School from Bagnolo, Foscolo School (Virgilio branch) from Brescia.
On Friday, it will be the turn of the Zammarchi Institute from Manerbio, the Toscanini School from Chiari, and the 28 Maggio School from Padenghe. And on Saturday? At 10 a.m., still at the West Garda, there will be a chamber music concert by the Milano Classica Orchestra. A performance aimed at school students, featuring actor Roberto Recchia.
Roundtables and award ceremonies
At 3 p.m., a roundtable discussion will take place on «Ensemble Music Composition for Primary Schools and the Future of Music Education in the School Cycle Reform». A topic for professionals that will be explored by Pasquale Del Giudice, Antonio Giacometti, Alberto Spinelli, and Ciro Fiorentino.
At 6:30 p.m., the first edition of the Festival will close with an award ceremony attended by Mayor Giancarlo Allegri. The ceremony will also feature music from the Milano Classica Orchestra.
Final comments and future prospects
The organizers of the event – Comune and 28 Maggio School of Padenghe – are satisfied with the participation: this initial edition will help refine the format and plan subsequent editions.
The organizational work has been demanding, but in Padenghe they believe in the project and are ready to invest energies and resources to present it again next year.
