Lake Garda Beaches in Brescia Approved for Swimming Despite One Outlier

Weather permitting, the swimming season on Lake Garda couldn’t start better: according to analyses conducted this week by the Public Health Laboratory of the ASL, all beaches on the Brescia shore are suitable for bathing, with the only exception of the Toscolano Paper Mill beach. This is a rare occurrence, and to the memory of this journalist, it has few precedents.

This time, 51 out of 52 locations are approved, including those traditionally disadvantaged, such as the Spiaggia D’oro di Desenzano, which has a long history of “non-bathing suitability” due to its position and currents. The latest tests carried out by the ASL refer to the second half of April: the chemical and bacteriological results were released yesterday, with encouraging outcomes.

Analysis details and involved locations

More specifically, water samples were analyzed from Sirmione (7 beaches, all suitable), Desenzano (6 beaches, approved), Lonato (the Lido is suitable), Padenghe (all 4 beaches approved), Moniga (4 resorts), Manerba, San Felice, Salò, Gardone Riviera, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine, and Limonne: all suitable for bathing.

The only outlier is the Cartiera di Toscolano, where, however, the other four resorts at Villa Adele, Cantieri Garda, Spiaggia Religione, and Lido Azzurro are authorized for bathing. The analyses will be repeated in fifteen days, by which time the bathing season will already be underway, buoyed by the positive results of this latest survey.
