Toscolano’s Palace Renovated as Tourism Hub, Honoring Andrea Celesti
— 750 million euros were spent to renovate and furnish it, but now the city has a fitting headquarters for its tourism palace, which will host exhibitions and municipal council meetings in the representing hall named after the Venetian painter Andrea Celesti, who stayed in Toscolano from 1684 to 1688, confined here by the reigning Doge. He was warmly received on Lake Garda and left tangible marks of his painting in many lakeside towns, becoming a true reference point for 17th-century Venetian art.
History and Functions of the Palace
Palazzo Benamati has served as a nursery and school over the centuries. The other rooms of the palace have been named after other figures who made history in the city.
