Arcobonsai 16th Edition Showcases Italy’s Best Bonsai and Competitions

Instructors, students, amateurs, enthusiasts, or simply curious onlookers: the diverse crowd attracted by the sixteenth edition of Arcobonsai has taken over the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Casinò since this morning.

In the hall to admire the beautiful specimens displayed by masters, traders, and clubs from all over Italy; on the veranda to be tempted into purchasing. And perhaps to pick up a few secrets along the way.

News and Competitions

The 2001 innovation is the Arcobonsai trophies, in which 16 instructors (the best in Italy) will compete on one side, and 12 clubs on the other.

The prizes (two works by Mastro Sette, one gold, the other silver) will go to those who, starting from a «normal» plant (from a nursery or collected in nature), manage to transform it into the most beautiful bonsai. Or rather, into the most promising and interesting pre-bonsai.

The instructors’ competition will take place from 10:00 to 12:30 this morning; that of the clubs will begin tomorrow at the same time.

To challenge their attention and interest, there will be (10:00-12:30) a bonsai technique demonstration by the Dutch master Mark Noelander; hosted and commented on by Carlo Oddone, one of Italy’s foremost experts and the founder of the Arcobonsai club and everything that has followed, including the exibition.

History and Commitment of the Club

Certainly, if the event has reached its 16th edition, if it has been enriched with Arcofiori and other side events, if in 2000 Arcobonsai hosted the European annual bonsai convention, it is due to the constant effort of the members that the club has progressively welcomed.

They have been working from September to May to present visitors with the best that Italy has to offer in bonsai and beyond.
