The opening debate will feature Mayor Ambrogio Florioli, professors Giovanni Tacchini and Claudio Poli, architects Marco Bonera and Francesca Ravelli, Giuseppe Mongiello, president of the Garda Community. The exhibition will remain open until June 17. Schedule: Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Summer Cultural Events
On June 9 and July 14, two evenings of dialect songs and poetry will take place, performed by the Brescia trio «Esseemmedù». In essence: a quest for emotions through popular language in verses and music. On June 29 and 30, the theatrical-musical performance «Le vie degli alberi» by the «Fra la terra e il cielo» school will be staged. Directed by Fausto Ghirardini. The performance is freely adapted from «Il barone rampante» by Italo Calvino.
From July 7 to 29, visitors can view an exhibition of paintings by Leonardo Cominelli, owned by the Fondazione. From July 21 to 28, «Weekend of theater, music, and poetry» will take place, featuring the workshop «Beyond Words». Local artists are collaborating. Performances will be held in the courtyards of the buildings in the village of Cisano.
From August 11 to September 9, «The Upper Rooms» will be held, featuring environmental installations by Gabriella Goffi. An evocative journey between fairy tale and reality. From September 15 to October 7, the exhibition «Characteristics of Gardaan Infrastructure», analyzing the main road arteries around the lake, will be presented.
Historical Interventions and Projects
«Since 1996, after creating a typical rural house, collecting paintings by Leonardo Cominelli and manuscripts by Raffaele — explains architect Vittorio Florioli, vice president of the Fondazione — we have committed ourselves to the fundamental goal of the statute: the protection of Valtenesi culture, understood broadly, both in terms of cultural containers and geographical boundaries. Activities are carried out through initiatives utilizing multiple expressive languages: painting, sculpture, photography, music, theater, and architecture, aiming to highlight and promote the peculiarities of these lands.»
In 2000, the landscape was explored through three different techniques: Gazich’s paintings, images by judge Fabio Maione, and thesis work on fortifications. The theatrical workshop «Beyond Words» was also established, organizing an exhibition of works by students from the Istituto d’arte di Gargnano and the evenings «Sounds and Voices from the Lake». Currently, the Board of Directors, composed of Mayor Ambrogio Florioli (president), Vittorio Florioli, Iride Bottura, Maria Teresa Giacomini, Bruno Zanrè, and Goffredo Bianconi, with secretary Cristina Coltrini, has announced the 2001 program.
«We hope that the initiatives (theatrical and musical performances, evenings of dialect songs and poetry, environmental setups, architecture events) will be stimulating — continues the vice president —. We have established fruitful relationships with local institutions and associations, the Ordine degli Architetti, the Cattolica di Brescia, and provincial departments of Culture and Agriculture, whose regional offices are based at our headquarters. The further development of the Fondazione will depend on both available financial resources and the level of collaborations. We therefore take this opportunity to invite those interested to get involved with our organization, to contribute in the manner and form deemed most appropriate.»
