Fundazione Cariplo Grants €2M for Castle Restorations in Mantuan Municipalities
The Fondazione Cariplo has approved a non-repayable grant for the restoration project of the castles in the municipalities of Cavriana, Solferino, Castiglione delle Stiviere, Volta Mantovana, Monzambano, and Ponti sul Mincio.
Official announcement and participants
Yesterday, the official announcement was made by Mantuan counselor of Fondazione Cariplo, Lorenzo Gaidella, who was surrounded by mayors and administrators from these six municipalities in the Solferino council chamber.
The foundation will disburse, as the initial installment, the sum of 2 billion lire. This is in anticipation of subsequent funding, which is expected to cover a total of 13.5 billion lire.
Attending the meeting were Solferino mayor, Lonardi; Monzambano mayor, Pelizzer; Volta Mantovana mayor, Bertaiola; Ponti sul Mincio mayor, Rebuschi; along with administrators Bertoli of Castiglione, Cauzzi and Cavallara, and Ogliosi of Cavriana, and Bignotti of Solferino.
Gaidella’s remarks and decisions
Before announcing the disbursement of the first part of the contribution, Gaidella scolded the mayor of Castiglione: “Two days ago, he wanted to announce it early, without official communications, but I believe the most important thing is that all the municipalities act together and in agreement.”
Then the announcement: “The foundation has decided to grant two billion lire as a partial funding for the castle restoration project. The first step toward full funding of the entire project.”
Feedback and upcoming events
Everyone present congratulated Gaidella on his work at Fondazione Cariplo and reaffirmed their commitment.
Next week, an operational meeting will be held to decide how to use this initial amount of money.
The preliminary project by architect Bernasconi highlights the restoration of the walls of the Cavriana castle.
