Festa del Nodo d’Amore Highlights Tortellini & Castle in Verona

The Association of restaurateurs and the municipal administration have chosen the stunning setting of the Scaliger castle to present the eighth edition of the ‘Festa del Nodo d’Amore’, the traditional table on the Visconti bridge, as a tribute to tortellini (the town’s signature dish), which will take place on Tuesday, June 19.

Event presentation and objectives

“Since about a year ago, the castle has been open for visits,” said the mayor, Fausto Sacchetto, “and we thought it was important to highlight it by presenting an event that aims to promote the territory and now has a solid organization, with the only unpredictable variable being the weather.” His words were echoed by the president of the Associazione ristoratori, Romano Bressanelli: “Guests will discover how beautiful it is to climb to the castle from the town center and then descend to Borghetto.”

He also emphasized that requests for tickets, especially from abroad, are numerous. This year, there will also be two long banquets along the over 600 meters of bridge, offering around 4,500 seats in total.

Event details and organizer feedback

The 250 waiters and 140 chefs will serve six hundred thousand handmade tortellini. The proposal by Alberto Zucchetta, a jeweler (Why not double the evenings?), creator of the celebratory dishes and the legend of Marco and Silvia, met with only partial approval from the restaurateurs.

“We can’t keep our restaurants closed for two days,” commented Bressanelli, “but we’re considering a smaller event limited to foreign guests that could be organized for the end of August.”
