Il Garda in Coro: National Children’s Choir Competition at Lake Garda
The association «Il Garda in Coro», in collaboration with the choir «Cima Vadritta» from Malcesine, and with the sponsorship of Unicef and «Telefono Arcobaleno», organizes the inaugural edition of «Il Garda in Coro», a national choir competition for children’s voices.
The event will be hosted in Malcesine from June 8 to June 10. The initiative stems from a deep conviction that the future of choral singing lies in the hands of the very young: the competition aims to be an effective tool for promoting and developing choral activities among children and teenagers.
Features of the competition and related activities
The competition, which will be held every two years, will be the first entirely dedicated to amateur children’s choirs across the national territory. For this reason, the organizing committee is preparing thoroughly to welcome the numerous choirs registered for the event who will stay in Malcesine, but above all to make the three days of the competition child-friendly.
In this regard, alongside the main event, concerts will be organized in nearby localities to Malcesine, where participating choirs can perform, along with boat trips on Lake Garda or cable car rides on Monte Baldo, and visits to the Castello Scaligero.
Program and awards
The competition will be inaugurated with an opening concert scheduled for Friday, June 8, featuring the «Piccoli Musici» choir from Casazza (Bergamo), conducted by maestro Mario Mora.
Finally, the competition will, as mandatory, conclude with the final awards ceremony for the two participating categories (sacred repertoire and secular repertoire), which will feature renowned figures of Italian choral music and will be dedicated to Unicef and the theme of peace in the world.
