Toscolano Maderno Hosts Cultural Events: Concert and Carlo Porta Show

Two events are scheduled today and tomorrow in Toscolano Maderno, as part of the third edition of the “Cultural Season,” organized by the Culture Councillor Patrizia Tomacelli. In the afternoon, at 4:30 PM, the “Mandolinistica del Benaco,” directed by Antonio Tomacelli, will hold a concert in the park of Villa Zanardelli, Fasano. Pieces by Schubert, De Giovanni, Sartori, Salvetti, Hubert, and Albeniz will be performed. Free admission.

A shuttle bus will depart at 4:00 PM from Piazza Caduti, Toscolano (arriving at the bridge at 4:05 PM, and at Piazza S. Maderno in Maderno at 4:10 PM), with returns at the end of the event.

Conference-Show on Carlo Porta

Tomorrow evening at 9:00 PM, in the main hall of the middle school, a conference-show titled “Carlo Porta – Carnevale 1818” will take place, featuring actor Enrico Beruschi. Excerpts from Italian-language works by Tommaso Grossi and Milanese dialect pieces by Carlo Porta, translated into contemporary language, will be read.

The event aims to provide understanding of the socio-cultural context of the period, with particular reference to music. The connections of the authors with “I promessi sposi” (The Betrothed) will be explored. Free entry.

The historical, literary, sociological, and environmental research was conducted by Enrico Beruschi, Guido Oldani (both performing alongside Ernesto Maria Rossi and tenor Gianfranco Biggiogero), Guido Bezzola, university professor and classical editor, Franco Manzoni, journalist and poet, Roberto Marelli, actor and writer, Giovanni Pacchiano, critic.

The production, organized by the autonomy department of Regione Lombardia, involves the recovery of texts, knowledge sharing, and stimulation, contributing to the enhancement of linguistic and literary components derived from the rereading of “Giovanni Maria Visconti, Duke of Milan,” a joint creation written by Grossi and Porta.

This project is set within a time of upheaval and uncertainty, in the post-Napoleonic era. It is designed for students, clubs, third-age universities, and history and Lombard literature enthusiasts.

Beruschi and others debuted last month in Codogno, then performed in Cassano d’Adda, Buscoldo (Mantova), Lecco, Milano, and Caravaggio (Bergamo). Tonight they perform in Castellanza (Varese), and tomorrow, as mentioned, in Toscolano Maderno.

On June 8, they will be at the Ipsia in Rovato.
