Massimo Boldi Presents “Bestia, che dolore!”: A Humorous Life Review
01 From Pattuglia Azzurra to the Derby Club cabaret in Milan (alongside the Mimitoki), from Canzonissima to his 36 films and numerous television appearances, Massimo Boldi remains on the crest of the wave. This time, he is the author of a book, Bestia, che dolore!, directly presented on Friday, June 1st at the Sesto Senso Club in Desenzano del Garda.
Since his first appearance on TV, alongside Raffaella Carrà, the well-known comedian has never stopped: he is one of the leading figures in our national cinema, ranking at the top of the list of Italian actors with the highest box office earnings (with the film Vacanze di Natale), as well as with new successful stories, like the recent Bodyguards. Last year, he also received, from a jury entirely composed of boys and girls from all over the world, the Giffoni Festival award… and now here he is, writing, telling his story.
The book “Bestia, che dolore!”
Bestia, che dolore!, or the lost causes of Massimo Boldi, is an existential hymn, a summary of a life filled with countless lawsuits, all turned into long and costly civil cases: all real and all lost. Starting from the most famous lawsuits — like the memorable one filed by Fininvest for his participation in Fantastico on Raiuno alongside Adriano Celentano — to the less illustrious, but remarkably absurd, such as those involving a gardener, a dealership, a neighbor, or a self-styled lawyer Tigre, a casual boat neighbor met on vacation.
Anyone who believes that the life of an artist is always cheerful and happy may realize that, in fact, it could be quite the opposite. Naturally, the stories are so paralyzing and absurd that you’d think they are invented — but no, they are real and extraordinarily funny. Massimo Boldi, without losing his usual ability to make us laugh, recounts with irony a series of semi-tragic, almost surreal stories, yet strictly authentic.
There is only one explanation: if it is true that life sometimes enjoys weaving situations that seem invented, when it has a comedian in hand, it gives its best and stages the most hilarious farce.
The volume and the presentation event
The book is also accompanied by a VHS tape where you can revisit the best of Boldi on television: from Rai and Fininvest archives, the funniest sketches, with impersonations, gags, disguises, and memorable one-liners that made Cipollino a success.
The release of the book and videotape is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29th. The live event with the actor-writer will be on Friday, June 1st, at the Sesto Senso.
