Garda Arte Exhibitions at Palazzo Carlotti Promote Local Artists and Culture

Palazzo Carlotti, the villa that Liliana Pincini bequeathed to the Municipality, has become a full-time exhibition venue: thanks to Garda Arte, the artistic association founded by the Gardesani painters.

Already in April, the palace was opened to the public for the inauguration of an exhibition featuring paintings by local Gardesani artists. Now, in the rooms granted by the municipal administration, an exhibition of works by Mario Dall’Agnola and Reginetta Monese is ongoing until July 23.

Subsequently, there will be a series of exhibitions until mid-October, with a likely continuation in December for the Christmas among the olives. «While awaiting the start of renovation works on the villa and the decision on its final use», says Mayor Davide Bendinelli, «the Garda Arte association gives us the opportunity to use these spaces as an exhibition venue, intelligently enriching our town’s tourist initiatives».

Artists and Works on Display

As mentioned, these days feature two Gardesani painters, both amateurs. Mario Dall’Agnola, a bartender who dabbles in art, is exhibiting around seventy small works: drawings, watercolors, and oils created from the 1950s to today. An anthology that offers a nostalgic glimpse into a Garda that no longer exists.

«Beyond Dall’Agnola’s skill demonstrated in these works», says Gabrio Rizzi, president of Garda Arte, «the paintings provide a snapshot of the town in the years before the tourist boom. There are also some interesting portraits of fishermen».

Reginetta Monese, also an amateur painter, is showing about twenty works. In this case, a large part of her works are dominated by Gardesani landscapes, apparently a good source of inspiration for the local artistic spirit. But Monese has also devoted her efforts to still life, as evidenced by her oils and pastels.

The current exhibition will be open until July 23: hours are from 10:00 to 12:00 in the morning and in the afternoon from 16:00 to 19:00. Starting July 28, Garda Arte will begin collaborating with other artistic groups by hosting a collective exhibition of young students from the Accademia Cignaroli of Verona: it will remain open until August 6.

On August 11, the traditional Garda Painters collective will commence, showcasing both amateurs and professionals, all born or residing in the lakeside town. In the past, the exhibition venue for Garda painters was the Losa, the beautiful building along the lakefront that was once the dock of Palazzo Pompei-Carlotti: now it will be held in the villa’s halls, until August 20.

From August 26 to September 3, a series of engravings will be on display, followed by a week from September 8 to 17 when some American artists will showcase works of design, ceramics, and sculptures. From September 22 to October 1, ceramics will take center stage. The grand finale from October 6 to 15 will feature a personal exhibition by Mario Malfer, a renowned Gardesani painter who has lived and worked in Lombard land for many years.
