Villa Bertanzi Moniga Hosts Annual Music Festival: Opera, Latin, and More

Villa Bertanzi in Moniga reopens its doors to the public for the traditional music festival organized by the Comune di Moniga in the stunning 18th-century setting.

There are four events planned by the new Administration, which has entrusted Professor Patrizia Avigo, President of the City Council, with organizing the festival in continuity with previous editions.

The program covers a variety of musical genres, from light music to opera, from Latin American to classical music.

Opening and initial evenings

The festival kicks off on Monday, August 6th, with a light music concert by the ACOUSTIC FINGERS TRIO.

This concert features, in a highly acoustic style, famous folk ballads from 1970s America (Bob Dylan, Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel) and some milestones of English pop (Beatles), with a dedicated moment to Italian singer-songwriter music (Lucio Battisti, Fabrizio De Andrè).

Following will be TRIO ROSSINI on Thursday, August 9th, offering an opera music performance.

Leading this evening of “bel canto” and virtuosity will be soprano Marta Brivio, flutist Mario Mazza, and pianist Marco Zappellini.

The program includes the performance of some operatic arias originally written for solo voice accompanied by piano, as well as pieces like the Fantasia sulla Traviata and Siviglia’s Barbiere, transcribed and rearranged for flute and piano.

Following evenings and closing

The festival continues on Sunday, August 12th, with Latin American dance performed by the NUEVO TANGO quartet, which will present a repertoire dedicated to Latin America, especially music by the Italo-Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla.

The group takes attendees on a “journey” through Milonghe and Tanghi, collaborating with two lead dancers capable of recreating highly evocative choreography.

The event will close with the QUINTETTO A FIATO DI PARMA on Saturday, August 18th, which will perform a selection of operatic arias, some transcribed specifically for this ensemble, along with famous film soundtracks, ragtime, and dances of South American origin.

The Quintet consists of Mario Mazza (flute), Emanuele Masi (oboe), Anna Lycia Gialdi (clarinet), Carlo Berlato Sella (horn), and Giuliano Mandonico (bassoon).

Thanks and conclusion

A heartfelt thanks goes to the Bertanzi family, who opens the villa’s gates every year to host moments of entertainment and culture amidst the beautiful setting of the century-old park, in collaboration with the Comune di Moniga.
