Castello Scaligero Hosts Goldoni Comedy and Renaissance Music Finale

A theatrical comedy by Carlo Goldoni and an evening of Renaissance singing and dancing are the last two events of the summer tourist season for the small lakeside town, which will conclude on Saturday, September 15th, with the grand celebration of the already traditional «September Carnival». And so, tomorrow evening at 9 PM, at the castle park of Castello Scaligero, the most anticipated theatrical performance of the entire season will take the stage: featuring the company La Barcaccia led by Roberto Puliero.

Theatrical Performance with La Barcaccia

A name, a guarantee, given that the comedies performed by La Barcaccia in previous years consistently sold out and garnered the highest approval ratings—as is often the case even in cities where the company is based.

«I Rusteghi» by Carlo Goldoni will therefore be the chosen piece, set in Venice in the second half of the 1700s.

The story revolves around a generational conflict between four elderly «rustics», attached to the values of the merchant world and opposed to social progress, and their wives and children, who embody much more modern ideals. The plot involves a marriage «not to be», which, however, promises to hold surprises.

Musical Evening with La Rossignol

For Friday evening, the Municipal Library has organized a music event titled «Per cantar et sonar». The show, starting at 9 PM in the courtyard of Castello Scaligero, will be presented by La Rossignol from Cremona.

The declared goal of these musicians and dancers is to study and promote the music and dances of medieval and Renaissance Italy. Through their performances, they have had the opportunity to perform and gain success and recognition in many countries across every continent.

Additionally, La Rossignol has published books and scientific studies, and collaborated with Rai, the Sanremo Festival, Mediaset, providing consultancy and artistic direction, including that of the first Italian Festival of Renaissance music and dance.
