Rock Master 2023 Starts in Arco with Wall Inauguration and Competition
It kicked off yesterday morning at the foot of the picturesque artificial wall in Prabi, marking the start of the 15th edition of Rock Master, the most important sport climbing competition in the world.
The attendance was quite substantial, despite the heavy rain from the previous day, with the audience gathered inside the middle school park S. Nicolò of Arco, packed under the massive structure to watch the prestigious event from the very beginning.
Just before the start of the challenge, which will see the best representatives of the specialty competing, the municipal administration held a small official inauguration of the wall.
The inauguration ceremony
Present at the brief ceremony were Deputy Mayor Prandi, Assessors Miori, Morandi, and Costa, Provincial Assessor Benedetti, City Councilors Jorg, Bombardelli, and De Laurentis, and various representatives from the local school, association, and cultural sectors.
After the customary speeches, it was time for the ribbon-cutting and the blessing by Arco’s dean, Don Luigi Amadori.
Only now was the structure officially inaugurated, as last year the construction work on the wall, completed just before the start of the sporting event, did not allow for any ceremony to take place.
History and construction of the work
The idea to create this structure dates back about fifteen years, conceived by a group of tenacious locals from Arco, including the late Ennio Lattisi, in honor of whom one of the trophies awarded during Rock Master is dedicated.
After numerous setbacks, the project has finally become a reality.
Event continuation and awards
The sports event will continue this morning at 10 a.m. and will conclude in the early afternoon with the final challenge for the Memorial Lattisi.
The awards ceremony for the winners and the top competitors is scheduled for 6 p.m.
