Municipal Tender Launches for €800M Elderly Care Center in October
On Wednesday, October 31, the tender for the contract to undertake work at the Centro diurno integrato on via Garibaldi will take place at the municipal technical office. This contract is just under 800 million euros and represents the third phase of renovation works for the former OPG area, to be used for social and health services and facilities for the elderly.
Having recognized the bureaucratic delays in obtaining regional funding, the administration has decided to use the proceeds from the market placement of the Boc municipal bond securities. The Centro diurno integrato will be able to accommodate around twenty elderly residents daily, either totally or partially non-self-sufficient.
Center features and offered services
A sort of retirement home without overnight stay, with residents leaving in the morning and returning to their families in the evening. A concrete help for those working and having an elderly person at home, but who do not wish to admit them to a full residential facility. Services will be varied, from healthcare to general assistance, as well as physiotherapy and other opportunities to ensure the guests’ days are as serene as possible.
The management of the Centro diurno integrato will involve both the municipality and the Asl, as well as the local care home, Zanetti-Cominelli, with which the administration has signed a specific agreement.
Timelines and procedures for completion
After the tender at the end of October, the company awarded the contract will have 200 days from the delivery of the site to complete the work on the building located between via Ordanino and via Garibaldi. Concerning the mini apartments, which, along with the day center and the integrated services, form an elderly citadel costing 3 billion euros, the access ranking is awaited to be established.
