Coast Castle Draws Over 50,000 Visitors Despite Restoration Efforts

An almost continuous line of people, especially in summer and on weekends, winds along the steep paths of the Coast all the way up to the castle. It is a wave of visitors attracted by the historic significance and the panoramic views of the cliff.

Visitor numbers and service status

By the end of the year, the number of visitors will exceed 50,000. This is an exceptional figure, almost unimaginable, for a castle partially closed due to ongoing restoration work that began a decade ago. Even the lack of services at the castle has not deterred visitors.

Restrooms have only been available since this year and have operated at “full capacity.” Between July and August, approximately 5,000 people used them, according to the counter that records each time the flush mechanism is activated.
