San Benedetto Opens New Bocce Facility for Community and Sports

Bowling alley with a bang in San Benedetto. It was inaugurated in the presence of a large crowd of athletes and enthusiasts of this sport, which in our province counts 1,800 registered members with the Italian Bocce Federation.

“Once my concerns are over, I am very satisfied,” said Mayor Bruno Dalla Pellegrina at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, “that this project was completed within just a couple of years.”

It is not just a recreational facility,” he emphasized, “but also a gathering point for both young and old, as it features a large meeting room, bar, and kitchen, allowing visitors to combine sports activities with leisure moments.” The structure, built on via Ragazzi del ’99 at the valley below the statale 11 and costing just under two billion lire, was entrusted to the Bocciofila di Peschiera for the actual sports facility with four bocce courts, while all other services were concessioned to the Tennis Club Arilicense, which has covered and uncovered red rectangles nearby.

Reactions and statements

Renzo Lorenzetti, president of Bocciofila Peschiera since its founding in 1970, expressed his satisfaction: “Finally, we will be able to hold our matches indoors instead of traveling to Valeggio, as we had been doing in recent years.” Honorary president Mario Leoncini, who is also the sponsor of the Bocciofila, shared in the joy of this achievement.

The inauguration featured performances by the Arilicense band, directed by maestro Gianfranco Toson, and comments from President Francesco Lavelli, whose musical group has been recently renewed with the addition of about twenty young musicians.

Moments of the ceremony

Following the mayor’s remarks, several interventions took place: from the federale counselor of Fib, Mario Cervini, arriving from Varese, to the president of Coni province Stefano Braggio, Senator Umberto Chincarini, and the president of Tennis Club, Renato La Gutta.

Attendees at the event included: Sante Genovizzi, president of the Provincial Fib Committee, Vice President Lorenzo Gasparato, referee group leader Giuseppe Cremonese, and don Luigi Mainenti, who blessed the sports facility.
