Rovereto Hosts 12th International Archaeological Film Review Until October 6

A week dedicated to archaeology, ongoing until tomorrow, October 6, in Rovereto. The 12th International Archaeological Film Review is taking place in the town of Lower Trentino, just beyond the borders of our province.

Program and Locations

An event traditionally aimed at enthusiasts of the field and not only for experts. There is the opportunity to attend a total of 76 documentary screenings filmed around the world. The festival started (Monday) at the Sala Spagnolli with “In the Beginning, There Was the Monkey” by Tilmann Scholl, a German director.

The event concludes tomorrow, Saturday, at 9 p.m. at the Teatro Zandonai with “The Obelisks of the Pharaohs” by the American Julia Cort. Attendees will have the chance to choose based on their interests or curiosity: from the origins of mankind to the Etruscans, from the excavations of Troy to major Eastern civilizations or to the Scythians and Shiites.

Screening Venues and Schedule

There are three venues dedicated to screenings — in addition to the Spagnolli and Zandonai, the Teatro Rosmini is also used. Screenings run from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and from 8:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. While it may seem almost impossible to attend all the screenings planned, the interesting aspect lies in the vast amount of material available, making it easier to make choices.

Additional Activities and Contests

The organizers (Museo Civico di Rovereto, the Department of Culture of the town, the Autonomous Province of Trento, and the Trentino-Alto Adige Region) have paired the film review with a series of conferences-discussions (one each day at 5:30 p.m., with an additional second presentation tomorrow at 11 a.m.) coordinated by Piero Pruneti.

Many of the films scheduled will also participate in the fifth edition of the Paolo Orsi Award competition.
