Rivoli Fort Safety Upgrades Funded by 25M Euro Donation

The contribution provided by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio to the Municipality of Rivoli amounts to 25 million euros.

Use of funds and compliance work

“We will use this funding to complete some safety upgrades on the lower battery of the fort,” explains Mayor Armando Luchesa.

The lower battery, a flat area surrounded by a series of archways, is currently used, during the spring or summer season, for hosting various performances.

“The Provincial Performance Commission had asked us to bring the escape routes up to code, specifically the walkway that surrounds the flat area and which, in case of incidents, should allow spectators to leave safely,” Luchesa continues.

Objectives of the interventions

“The fort has always been accessible, and until now we have consistently held events there.

But now, with these funds, we will not only be able to fully comply with bureaucratic procedures but also improve the quality of performances to attract a larger audience and therefore prepare a more substantial schedule for the upcoming season compared to recent years,” he states.

Details of the work and timeline

The safety upgrades will specifically involve constructing a one-meter-twenty-high railing that surrounds the entire walkway.

“It must be made of wood to blend with the surrounding environment,” specifies Luchesa.

“Additionally, every 10 meters, lamps will need to be installed to allow for nighttime illumination and visibility. We are currently gathering quotes from local companies we have contacted.”

“Once the invoices are submitted—which we anticipate will be within a month—we will present them and begin the work, which should be completed before Christmas,” he concludes.
