Castiglione Hosts Monastic Studies Workshop Focused on Northern Italy Archives

Castiglione hosts from today until Saturday three days of medieval studies, featuring a “Monastic History Workshop of Northern Italy,” promoted by the Centro per lo studio degli insediamenti monastici (Center for the Study of Monastic Settlements) and the Università Organizzazione per la Lombardia orientale (University Agency for Eastern Lombardy).

Organized in collaboration with the Municipality and the Department of Medieval History, the Università Cattolica di Brescia (Catholic University of Brescia), the event takes place at Palazzo Gonzaga in via Battisti and includes a rich series of lectures and seminars, with participants such as Giorgio Picasso, Renata Salvarani, Lorenzo Casazza, Elisabetta Filippini, Cristina Sereno, Nicolangelo D’Acunto, Michele Pellegrini, Angelo Baronio, Francesco Silvestrini, and Giancarlo Andenna.

Themes and Participants

The edition will especially focus on archival sources for the study of monastic institutions.

The seminar is part of the training and update initiatives planned and carried out within the university framework and is therefore recognized as continuing education activity for teachers, in accordance with the national collective bargaining agreement, granting the benefits provided by legislation.
