International Choir Competition ‘L’Incanto sul Garda’ October 28–31
Return to the end of the Alta Garda tourist season, another significant event with music, l’Incanto sul Garda, scheduled from Sunday, October 28 to Wednesday, October 31, 2001. The Choir Competition is open to polyphonic choirs, folklore groups (singing, dance, music), and emerging choral ensembles inspired by jazz, spirituals, and gospel music.
The organization is managed by the Associazione Concorso Corale Internazionale “Musica Mundi”, in collaboration with the municipal administration, Apt Garda Trentino, the Federazione dei Cori del Trentino, and the German Forderverein Interkultur. The event is sponsored by the Comune di Riva del Garda.
Judging Panel and Participants
The international judging panel comprises six experts, including renowned composers and conductors. Over 50 choirs from 21 nations will participate: Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia – Herzegovina, Brazil, Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Ireland, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Chinese People’s Republic, Romania, Russia, and Slovenia.
These choirs have chosen In..canto sul Garda to assess artistic quality and to initiate an exchange of experiences and activities, an important element for their future artistic and personal development.
Venues and Program of the Event
Rehearsals will take place in the Sala 1000 of the Palazzo dei Congressi and at the S. Maria Assunta church. The final evening, with the announcement of winners, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, at 8:30 p.m. in the Sala Superiore of the S. Giuseppe church.
On the occasion of the official opening, Sunday, October 28, at 4:30 p.m., the choirs will parade through the streets of the historic center of Riva. In addition to the competition, numerous other concerts will be held, including sacred and secular music performances.
