Local Bar Celebrates as Lotto Jackpot Hits Over 112 Million Lire

They didn’t know anything yet, but they were ready to celebrate. “What? Are you telling me that someone here in our area hit 6?” At the bar on via Milano 16, run by Alex Castrini and Enrico Cussolotto, the Totobingol contest number 308 – just to be precise – has made a millionaire: the prize, once again handsome, is 112 million and 633 thousand lire. A bit too little to change a life; enough – certainly – to lift their spirits.

«Oh my», says Alex. «No one had notified us yet, because usually we receive this kind of notification only after five or six days». But does Alex really have no idea who the lucky winner could be? No idea at all? «Well», he says. «Actually, there are always very few customers who play the Totobingol. It’s not a game that’s quite popular. And then, if one of those few players had actually won, one would expect them to maybe pass by here to…». He hesitates, thinks about it for a moment, then blurts out: «Damn: is it Saturday’s contest? Saturday’s game? But I played a ticket! Could it be mine? How much did they say the win was? A hundred and how many million?»

Verification and confirmations

Alex promises to verify, even to let us know once he confirms, but – aside from his outgoing personality – there aren’t many reasons to believe that, even if the winning ticket was his, Alex would want to inform the newspapers directly. In any case, when asked again about the matter a few hours later, Castrini responds with a resigned answer: «No», he says. «The lucky ticket was not the one I played». Enrico and Alex’s bar has already celebrated some wins: «Last summer», Alex explains, «we hit two ‘5s’ in Superenalotto, totaling 150 million, and last year 36 million were won in Totogol».
