Garda Community Promotes Tourism, Cultural Projects, and Water Quality
“Letters from Garda,” the monthly magazine distributed by the Comunità (based in Gardone Riviera, with President Giuseppe Mongiello), recounts the most important news of recent days. The idea of a forum on the overall viability of the lake is developing. The initiative has received support from Mauro Parolini, provincial councilor for Public Works, Bruno Faustini, the president of the Alto Garda Park, and Mongiello. A debate on the prospects of tourism in light of recent tragic events will also be organized (journalists from the sector will be invited).
As of September 30th, the Coast Guard service has ended, but preparations have already begun to renew this important relationship in 2002, in an even more comprehensive form. The ADAC, the German Automobile Club, expressed thanks for the seriousness of the work carried out in assessing the data on beach water quality. The accuracy of these data was certified by a biologist present on-site, within the framework of the ADAC-Sommerservice program.
Participation in events and initiatives
Meanwhile, the Comunità is participating in the Genoa Boat Show, which will close on Sunday, October 21. In recent days, it presented the Garda nautical offer at Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance, as part of the Interboot Fair. Olive oil and wine, along with scenic and cultural beauties, were showcased in Canelli (Asti): the ambassador tasked with bringing the scents of Benaco was Adelio Zanelli.
Mongiello, on the other hand, led a delegation to Lake Balaton on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Salvatore Quasimodo’s birth, Nobel laureate. After customary meetings with local authorities, the ambassador in Budapest, and the poet’s son, a Garda-themed exhibition was inaugurated at the Balatonfured gallery.
Cultural projects and educational initiatives
Piergiuseppe Pasini has designed “The Great Game of Garda,” a new and fun way to learn about, understand, and promote the cultural, environmental, historical, and geographical heritage of the Riviera. Local schools responded with interest. The Comunità’s website, www.lagodigarda.it, has become even more attractive.
From the homepage, it is possible, with a simple click, to explore in depth: the governing bodies, aims, and member organizations; the tourism sector (including all hotel and extra-hotel accommodations), environmental updates (with the weather section and weekly updates on beach water quality), artistic heritage (museums, churches, shrines, theses), wine and gastronomy (typical products and taste itineraries), and sports (activities practiced and useful addresses). Another particularly appreciated section is dedicated to events, featuring performances, festivals, conferences, exhibitions, and various initiatives.
