Gardone Riviera Unveils Beretta Family History in New Book Launch
Gardone Riviera celebrates the history of the Beretta group, now led by Ugo Gussalli Beretta. The presentation of the volume “The Beretta World, an International Legend” is scheduled for November 16th at the Vittoriale degli Italiani. Curated by R. Larry Wilson and published by Random House, the book recounts the epic saga of the Beretta family spanning thirteen generations.
A history that began in Gardone Val Trompia and over the centuries has made the family name known worldwide, particularly in the United States. The volume (a total of 358 pages, enriched with 400 photographs), published by Random House, was released in preview in the USA.
In the States, the Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, gifted a copy to the American President, George W. Bush, during a visit to the country. In Italy, it will be published by Sperling & Kupfer.
Content and curiosities about the volume
The book contains many interesting details: among them, an official document attesting to the activity of Brescia’s gunmakers, specifically a receipt dated October 1526, which records the payment of 185 arquebuses by the Republic of Venice.
On November 16th, the official presentation ceremony of the volume will be coordinated by the writer Mario Rigoni Stern. A roundtable discussion is also planned, featuring Mino Martinazzoli (former mayor of Brescia), Massimo Bongiovanni (economics page editor at Il Sole 24 Ore), Vittorio Feltri (editor of Libero), and Michele Brambilla from Sette magazine of Il Corriere della Sera.
