Lake Transport Resumes in Alto Garda During Riva-Limone Tunnel Works

Starting from November 15th, boat transportation resumes. For an entire month, until December 15th, residents of the **Alto Garda** who study and work in Riva del Garda will be required to use public transportation via lake to reach Trentino Garda.

From mid-November to mid-December, the **Gardesana**, the only connection route between the Brescia side and the Trentino side of the lake, will be closed to traffic for the completion works of the tunnel between Riva and Limone, which was inaugurated in July. To counter the emergency, **Navigarda** has scheduled special ferry trips for passenger and car transport, along with catamaran services for passengers only.

Schedule of departures from November 15th

Here are the schedules valid from November 15th for the route from Limone to Riva. The catamaran will operate nine daily voyages, departing at 7.10 (excluding holidays), 8, 9, 10, 11.40, 13.30, 14.50, 16.20, and 18.10. The arrival at Riva del Garda is expected 20 minutes after departure.

Similarly, nine daily ferry trips will run, departing at 9.30, 10.50, 12.10, 14.15, 15.40, 17, 18.30, 20.40, and 22.10. The ferry journey takes approximately half an hour.

Extraordinary trips on the reverse route from Riva to Limone will also be scheduled; the catamaran will depart daily at 6.45 (excluding holidays), 7.35, 8.30, 9.30, 11, 13, 14, 15.50, and 17.00.

Ferry departures from the Trentino municipality to the Brescia municipality will take off at 8.50, 10.10, 11.30, 13.35, 15, 16.20, 17.50, 20, and 21.30. The schedules are already posted at the ticket offices of **Navigarda** in Riva and Limone.

Future interventions and disruptions

We remind you that in 2002, after the Christmas holidays, the **Gardesana** between the two **provinces** will undergo another total traffic blockade for at least 60 days, due to additional works to complete the tunnel. Limone and Tremosine residents will again experience the disruptions suffered from December 2000 to last July.

This time, however, the disruptions are announced. “What matters,” says the mayor of Limone, Martinelli, “is that at the end of the works, the Gardesana between Riva and Limone will finally and definitively be safe.”
