Grantour Boosts Coach Tourism at Verona Workshop Amid Industry Challenges
In a challenging time marked by a decline in air travel tourism due to external factors, particularly the fear of flying following the terrorist attack in New York, the coach tourism sector takes on unexpected significance.
This was highlighted during a special evening at the Fiore restaurant in Peschiera, attended by qualified operators from 25 countries, both European and non-European, participating in Grantour, the international workshop in Verona promoted by Veronafiere in collaboration with Enit (Italy’s National Agency for Tourism).
Participation and Opportunities Created
For an entire day, over ninety foreign operators had the opportunity to establish contacts and agreements with Italian accommodation facilities and partners to host and assist their clients, typically passengers of buses.
This niche is of considerable size, representing a quarter of Italy’s tourism industry, with Grantour providing an ideal opportunity for «bus operators» to find and purchase the most suitable solutions for the programs they intend to offer their clients.
Moments of conviviality and reflection
At Lake Garda, at the end of the intensive day of work, bus tourism operators enjoyed local cuisine based on freshwater fish and wines from the Consorzio del Lugana.
In thanking the participants, «in a difficult moment», during the sixteenth edition of the Workshop, Leonardo Campanelli, representative of Enit, highlighted the «need for collaboration to give confidence to those whose goal is to visit Italy».
Institutional Greetings and Event Closure
Veronafiere’s greeting was delivered by Commercial Director Vittorio di Dio, while Carlo Modena from the organizing secretariat, prompted by the operators, confirmed the invitation to the next edition of the Workshop.
As a final surprise, after guests were welcomed with the musical notes of the town band upon arrival, they were farewelled with a gift of Lugana wine from Luigi Fraccaroli, vice president of the Consorzio, which protects this sought-after wine.
