Lazise Parish Debt and Restoration Plans Advance Amid Community Support

Contrary to expectations, it will not be possible in the near future to reconvene with the residents and families of the parish community with the parish priest, don Alessandro Pasquini, to discuss initiatives to reduce the debt position of the Saints Zenone and Martino parish.

First, it will be necessary to meet with the Bishop of Verona, Father Flavio Roberto Carraro, so he can fully understand the situation in light of recent events. Don Alessandro plans to visit the episcopal curia with the parish financial commission in full.

The commission, composed of five lay members, has only an advisory opinion as operational decisions are the responsibility of the parish priest. The same commission is in office for three years. However, the parish priest of Lazise intends to move in close harmony with this parish body, as well as with the administration of the episcopal curia.

Visit from the Superintendency and Restoration Interventions

Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, the Technical Commission of the Superintendency for Architectural and Environmental Heritage of Verona arrived at the parish, led by architect Maria Grazia Martelletto and surveyor Mungivera, for operations to inspect the recently completed works.

Alongside the parish priest, present were Don Nicola Azzali, parish cooperated, the restoration project engineer Luigi Guadagnini, contractor Francesco Lavelli, and some members of the parish financial commission. The review of technical documents, measurements, and restorations carried out within the church was conducted with the utmost attention and expertise.

The minutes produced will then be forwarded to the relevant ministry for further examination and the subsequent disbursement of the financial contribution. This will provide a much-needed boost to the parish budget.

Public Opinion and Support Initiatives

In recent days, following the parish priest’s public financial report delivered at the youth center, public opinion has mobilized. Discussions among the community are now centered solely around the urgent need to give strong support to the parish priest to help lift him from the current serious «concerns».

Concrete proposals have already been offered, hints don Alessandro, although he prefers not to disclose any details. Nevertheless, there is a strong movement of opinion and genuine interest among parishioners to «lend» appropriate sums to meet financial commitments.

The main guidelines that the parish priest will share with the faithful of Lazise after his meeting with Father Flavio Roberto, which might happen as early as next week, will be announced.

Those wishing to contribute funds to the parish immediately can do so through the Lazise branches of the Banca Popolare di Verona.
