Garda Celebrates 50 Years of Priesthood for Don Tullio Ferrarese

Last Sunday, Garda also celebrated don Tullio Ferrarese on the fiftieth anniversary of his priestly ordination.

Don Tullio recalled that just a few days after his first mass, he was sent as a curate to Garda by monsignor Albrigi, as his first pastoral assignment, in July 1951.

During his homily, don Tullio explained that in Garda he «felt the joy of being a priest»; he «understood the value of the priest among the youth»; he «found the doors of homes always open».

The parish at that time was led by don Guido Santini, who — along with don Tullio — remained in the hearts of the residents of Garda for a very long time.

The celebration began with a concelebrated mass alongside don Sante Monese.

It recalled various activities in the areas of pastoral, youth, and educational work, Catholic Action, and complementary activities: the recreation center, leisure and sports activities, and the theater group.

All of this saw participation from nearly all of the youth of that time.

Closing of the celebrations and memories

Toward the end of 1955, don Tullio left Garda for Vestenanova, much to the dismay of the local population.

The celebration concluded with a lunch at a well-known restaurant, accompanied by verses from the vernacular poetess Margherita Mirandola dedicated to the occasion.

Many traditional songs of Garda folklore followed.
