Gargnano Water Shortage Ended After Extensive Volunteer Tank Transfers

Half a million liters of water have changed hand… pipes in recent weeks in the inland areas of Gargnano. The intervention by the Volontari del Garda has indeed allowed access to the tank located in Sasso and, through tanker trucks, to draw water, transferring it to the other tank that services the nearby Navazzo.

At least forty trips with tanker trucks, spanning roughly ten days of volunteer work. Difficulties arose in approaching the Sasso tank with the trucks designated for water transport, in order to proceed with drawing the liquid, which has become precious and insufficient.

In fact, due to the size of the vehicles—of considerable dimension—the roads are very narrow. To bypass this obstacle, it was decided to use over a hundred meters of hoses, which—connecting the collection point with the small square where the tanker trucks were stationed—allowed the transfer of water and subsequent pouring into the tank that supplies Navazzo.

This operation ensured service for the 200 inhabitants of the settlement without any incidents occurring in the other area. The Gargnano water network is constantly monitored, and municipal workers are always under pressure, especially during water shortages, to ensure the aqueduct’s functionality.

It is also important to note that, alongside some inevitable breakdowns—common in a network as extensive as Gargnano’s—the significant reduction in flow from the Selva Scura spring (located on the Pizzocolo ridge, not far from Archesane), which supplies some fractions of Montegargnano, must be considered.

For now, however, the water emergency seems to have been resolved.
