Italian Technical Institute «Luigi Cerebotani» to Add Computer Science Course
Starting from the next school year, the Italain State Technical-Industrial Institute «Luigi Cerebotani» will offer the option to specialize in computer science in addition to mechanical and electronic engineering.
Furthermore, on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. and Saturday, December 15 in the afternoon, the school will be open to present the fully refurbished institute to students attending third grade middle school and their parents.
This will also serve as an opportunity to meet the teachers who will guide visitors through the many laboratories the school is equipped with: physics, chemistry, computer science, linguistics, telecommunications, etcetera.
Initiatives and laboratories
The addition of the computer science course is particularly welcomed by Vice President Vincenzo Laquaniti, who has followed this school virtually since its inception in 1966, when it was still housed in some classrooms at the Youth Center and was simply a branch of the Itis Castelli di Brescia.
«Parents will have the chance through this event,» – explains Laquaniti, «to learn about the full structure of the courses, objectives, recovery activities, and various supplementary projects.»
The Itis has always looked ahead, after all.
Recent projects and developments
It is worth noting that in the early 1980s, as the first in Brescia and among the first in Italy, the institute implemented the most advanced experimental project in the mechanical sector called Ergon.
Back then, subjects such as automation, computer science, electronics, numerically controlled machines, computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) were already being taught.
Today, it is particularly focused on providing adequate professional training, including corporate internships within the catchment area of its students, guided visits, and educational trips in Italy and abroad.
This is complemented by 14 highly equipped laboratories covering all key subjects from electronics to mechanics, telecommunications, and informatics.
Welcome project and course duration
There is also a dedicated welcoming project for first-year students aimed at overcoming the initial difficulties and discomfort linked to entering the new school environment, as well as verifying the validity of their choices.
The courses have a total duration of five years, structured into a two-year common core for all specializations and a three-year specialization with differentiated curricula.
