Arco to Build New Pedestrian Bridge Over Sarca by 2024

The long wait, which has lasted several years, for the construction of the footbridge over the Sarca between Caneve and the oratory is finally coming to an end.

The municipal council, by the end of December, will assign the task to a professional to draft, at a cost of around one hundred million, the project for this cycle-pedestrian crossing.

This was announced by councilor Fabrizio Miori in response to a recent inquiry by municipal councilors Matteo Tamanini (Lega Nord), Fabio Zanetti (Forza Italia), and Roberto De Laurentis (Alleanza Nazionale).

Questions from the councilors

The representatives of Casa delle Libertà questioned when residents of the Caneve and Mogno areas will finally be able to reach the historic center of Arco quickly and safely without having to walk the long and dangerous route along the state road, including the busy Sarca bridge.

Councilor Miori also clarified that the parish of Arco has given its approval for the cycle-pedestrian path to pass over the land of the via della Cinta oratory between the future footbridge and the city center.

Urban planning situation and procedures

There are no urbanistic obstacles, Miori specified, since these types of lanes with a width of less than three meters do not require programs in the Prg (Urban Development Plan).

After the completion of the footbridge project and the necessary bureaucratic procedures, including obtaining the building permit, the commencement of works should proceed without delays.

The cost, which was estimated at around 900 million lire, is already available in the municipal budget of 2001.
