Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
