Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately report to the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
